WHY MALTA?

The Republic of Malta offers investors the advantages of a politically and economically stable environment, as well as membership in the British Economic Community. Malta, having successfully weathered the financial crisis, has attracted attention as one of only two countries in the Eurozone, along with Germany, to maintain its economic growth. The Maltese banking system ranks highly in the world in terms of reliability.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR CITIZENSHIP

The main applicant is expected to be at least 18 years old and have fulfilled all of the following investment requirements:

1. Contribution to National Development and Social Assistance (Non-refundable)

To be eligible for Maltese citizenship through investment, the main applicant must contribute €650,000. Spouses and children must contribute €25,000 each. Unmarried children between the ages of 18 and 26, and dependents over 55 years of age must each contribute €50,000.

2. Real Estate Investment

The applicant must purchase real estate for €350,000 or lease it for a total of five years at an annual rent of €16,000. This investment must be held for five years.

 

3. Bond/Share Investment

The applicant will invest at least €150,000 periodically in bonds and shares protected by the Maltese government for a period of five years. This investment is expected to be in financial instruments that are anticipated to benefit the island and are confirmed by the government.

TAX EXEMPTION

Resident taxpayers who do not reside in Malta benefit from tax exemptions. Accordingly, those living in Malta but whose permanent address is not Malta are not taxed on foreign-sourced income, and similarly, any capital gains acquired outside Malta are not subject to tax, whether exempt or not. Tax is only applicable to income and capital gains earned in Malta. A citizen who does not reside in Malta can only be taxed on income originating in Malta.

APPLICATION PROCESS

The process for obtaining a prestigious Maltese passport is expected to be completed within 12-14 months:

  • The process begins with the signing of the Consultancy Services Agreement.

  • This includes preparing the necessary documents and traveling to Malta to apply for a Residence Permit.

  • Within one month, the Residence Permit is obtained, granting the right to free movement within the EU and Schengen area.

  • After preliminary approval of the citizenship application, the relevant contributions and investment fees are paid.

  • Following final approval of citizenship, travel to Malta for passport application and oath of citizenship.
